Diadem
Words: Edward Perronet 1779. Music: James Ellor, 1838.
Ellor (1819–1899), a hatmaker from Droylsden near Manchester, wrote this tune for a Sunday school anniversary when was he was only nineteen. He later emigrated to America where he died. Perronet (1726–92) was from a London Huguenot family, worked closely with the Wesleys during the revival of the 18th century, and once suffered the indignity of being "thrown down and rolled in mud and mire" in Bolton.

LYRICS
All hail the power of Jesu's name!
Let angels prostrate fall,
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all.
Ye saints redeemed of Adam's race,
Ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him who saves you by His grace,
And crown Him Lord of all.
Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget
The wormwood and the gall,
Go, spread you trophies at His feet
And crown Him Lord of all.
Let every people, every tribe
On this terrestrial ball
To him all majesty ascribe
And crown Him Lord of all.
O that with yonder sacred throng
We at His feet may fall!
Join in the everlasting song,
And crown Him Lord of all.
All hail the power of Jesu's name!
Let angels prostrate fall,
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all.
